Gnome 42.2 Sharing home folders

Hi,

I don't have the option to share home folders in Nautilus.
No sharing folder CM at all.
Any advice on how to get it working?
Also, can't see Windows 11 or another linux machine in network.
Thanks a lot,
AJ

Welcome

Garuda (2.6.3-2):
  System install date: 2022-06-01
Last full system update: 2022-06-13 ↻
  Is partially upgraded: No
  Relevant software: NetworkManager

Can you explain what you mean by this?

I would like to share home folders Documents, Downloads, Pictures, etc just like Plasma does. What I can tell is that the KDE version of Garuda has more options than the Gnome one, at least in KDE I don't have to worry about sharing because it just works unlike on Gnome which it has to be made to share. I have been reading and got the Sharing Options CM to show in Files but I get 'net usershare' returned error 255.
Thank you

Run
setup-assistant
And install printer+ scanner+Samba support
Also install additional gnome components
Then reboot
And see if sharing works

I did what you asked and still the same.
'net usershare' returned error 255 error.
Thanks

Is nautilus-share installed?
Edit: ops, might be this bug

yes, it is

There is a possible patch attached.
Quite frankly I'm no expert on that.
You may want to give a look at
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Patching_packages#Applying_patches

Not expert at all on this, don't know how to do it.

Try with the guide.
Probably you could also download the source

paru -G nautilus-share

change that affected file that you see in the patch (should be shares.c) as per the bug report and compile, I think with

updpkgsums
makepkg -sri

And hopefully someone will help you better.

Thankd for your reply, I did what you asked and I was searching with google and found out that Gnome 42.2 dropped home folder sharing with samba and went the dav route.

Going with the dav route Windows can see all the home folders and media. Go figure.
