When I try to open Garuda Network Manager or pretty much do anything that requires root authentication the password box pops up momentarily then disappears and I have nowhere to enter my password and execute what I was doing. how to solve this?
Don't forget to post your garuda-inxi
when you have a chance.
Have you had a reboot since first noticing this problem?
yes I've run reboot several times and tried using different kernels as well here is my inxi ouput

Hmm, this indicates you have not reboot since your last update:
Give it another shot and see how it goes.
It is likely minimized to the dock/bar. I saw this behavior briefly on my Garuda install using the standard KDE bar a few weeks back. The pkexec password prompt window simply required being maximized to work.
hi thanks for the help! full system update and reboot as shown, problem still persisting

hey! I have been checking the latte dock and task bar and don't see anything being minimized
will do some research on pkexec thanks!
Run in terminal:
pkexec env DISPLAY=$DISPLAY XAUTHORITY=$XAUTHORITY HOME=$HOME garuda-network-assistant
Check if polkit-agent-helper-1
is running after you open a program such as garuda-network-assistant that requires root access. Paste polkit-agent-helper-1
in the search field in ksysguard. This will show if polkit-agent-helper-1
opens and remains open for password entry. It will close after the password is entered in the prompt field.
did as instructed, incident was reported.
according to ksysguard polkit-agent-helper-1 doesn’t open at all when I try to open garuda-network-assistant
Try it with only polkit
in the search field in ksysguard.
Info on polkit:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Polkit
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/polkit/docs/latest/polkit.8.html
Perhaps try reinstalling polkit:
sudo pacman -Syu polkit polkit-kde-agent polkit-qt5
thank you reinstalling polkit worked like a charm!
I'm guessing you were mucking about with root commands and messed up polkit.
Glad that fixed you up.
