Gaming review on Win 11, 10 vs Bazzite, Garuda

Hello,

I was just surfing the net when I ran into this comparison review that featured gaming on Garuda :- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2C2RgAW5Tw

The one that struck me was this:-

Not sure what happened there because Nvidia drivers on Garuda were v570 which were past the problematic pre- v550 due to proprietary formalities.

For every other game Garuda holds its own esp when you consider this was done with an Nvidia gpu. I’ll be getting an Nvidia card soon that’s why this review caught my attention. In addition, most of my past Radeons for some reason would die but never had an Nvidia die on me ever…

What do you suppose led to such a decline in performance in GoW?

I’m guessing it was a fluke like he alluded to. For me, GoW runs just as well; if not better than Win11 on my system (though I’m currently on a fairly modern AMD CPU and GPU).

The last time I noticed gaming on Linux being slower than Windows was when Black Myth: WuKong first released. It was like 30% of the performance of W11 when ray-tracing was enabled. With RT disabled it was within 15% or so which isn’t too bad when you’re talking 100-ish fps. That was like a year ago so it might be better now…

I tend to think so too, will test when I get my gpu though mine’s Nvidia and I won’t be ray-tracing (not joined that team yet). I hope the common issue of tearing with Nvidia’s will not happen with mine.

Looks like some of fluke, when you check the GPU utilisation is at half utilisation and the textures are not properly loaded.

Back when I had 3080, it run totally fine on Linux (minus the NVIDIA BS).
