Garuda (2.6.8-1):
System install date: 2022-10-03
Last full system update: 2022-10-04 ↻
Is partially upgraded: No
Relevant software: NetworkManager
Windows dual boot: Probably (Run as root to verify)
Snapshots: Snapper
Failed units:

TLDR: Installed Garuda, games run fine through steam, but have poor performance when I run them through wine or proton-tricks.

I had to re-install Garuda, as my old install failed to boot (stuck on splash screen). Using snapshots also didn't help the case. Something about cannot find the init. Tried some guides but no luck.

After re-install. I noticed that optimus-manager is no longer being shipped, so I decided to install supergfxctl, as it was recommended by asus-linux/asusctl. It is working fine, I am able to change the graphics. The games through steam are running fine. But If I run them through wine directly (without logging into steam) I get low FPS, darker visuals, or just a black screen. They were working fine on my old install of Garuda.

The install process is the same as my old install, the only difference is that this time, I used swap with hibernate, and installed supergfxctl, as optimus-manager was not shipped with the latest ISO.

I have tried to run the games with prime-run but they won't launch, and also through protontricks launcher but same result as I got with wine.

I've read a number of times that driver for Nvidia is having issues with the ZEN kernel. Some have said the LTS kernel works fine with the new drivers. If switching kernels doesn't fix it you might need to re-install the nvidia drivers and maybe reboot.

I tried the LTS, didn't work. As for the drivers, I don't know how to re-install them, but here is the out put of garuda hardware.

Do I just let it auto install proprietary driver?

As I stated in my OP, games work fine if I run them through steam (steam play), but not through wine.

Hi,
I'm currently only playing Diablo Immortal via Lutris, but I had the problem that it didn't want to start anymore.
it took me a long time to find out that it was the dxvk version.
I then switched from dxvk version 1.10 back to dxvk 1.9.4 and then it ran again without any problems.

Mfg Bucca

There are two, dxvk-async-git and dxvk-mingw-git. Do I need to downgrade both of these? I am using downgrade command.

I don’t know why, but I decided to run setup_dxvk install and now the games are running fine. I’ll wait for a few days before and see how things go and mark the this a solution if the games keep running normally.

Thank you very much for the suggestion!

I only have dxvk-mingw-git installed.

you don't need to downgrade. just change the version in the lutris settings.

I'm glad it works now.
