"Game not recognized as DOSBox compatible." error when launching Steam Play titles

Hey all, I'm new to the forum and Arch/Garuda so my apologies for any confusion or mistakes.

Any time I launch a non-native game through Boxtron I'm greeted with the error "Game not recognized as DOSBox compatible." I cannot find any logs, there is no terminal output, I have nothing to go on other than that. Happens both when launching .exe's directly and when using Steam Play compatibility option.

Edit: adding prime-run %command% to steam launch options causes this error to not appear, which leads me to think it has something to do with nvidia drivers. However, it still does not launch. No error or output is given.

Edit 2: using steam native

Hi. I'm also new but I had this happen when I was first setting up Steam. Have you tried switching compatibility setting from Boxtron to proton? I'm a new user so can't upload a screen shot but under Steam Settings > Compatibility I switch Run Other Titles With from Boxtron to proton-ge-custom and have been able to launch Windows games like Deep Rock Galactic. I haven't experimented a lot yet so I don't know if this is the best setting and different versions of proton might work better for different games.

https://www.protondb.com/ Proton DB is a good source for checking on what games may have issues.
