For those who read Linux mags

Those of you with access to Linux Format (Brit Linux mag of many years) will be pleased to note that Garuda is apparently covered in there. Now to go read it myself to see if they got the point!

OK - read it…

Seems they got ‘bit’ a couple of times by things that work a LITTLE differently here - but found the answers quickly on the forum. Garuda does take a little bit of specialist knowledge to navigate! (or even pick an edition, in some cases). Anyway - reasonably solid review, and a suggestion that it can handle (and is recommended for) being a gaming or a general purpose system. Fair enough - though I think the score should have been closer to 9/10 rather than 8/10, but then again they did the same to EndeavourOS at the time of THAT review…

Got a few sneak peaks? :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmm - just how peeky do you want it? I CAN say that the dr460nf1r3 settings and browser drew favourable comment,

Why the hell did you not actually provide a link? :man_facepalming: :person_facepalming: :woman_facepalming:

If I’m not mistaken, this is a magazine…made of paper…offline…just analog.

Those STILL exist? gasp

If I’m not mistaken and I’m not it’s posted somewhere. EVERYTHING ALWAYS ends up online.

I’d appreciate a nicer tone @Locutus . This kind of behaviour is not appreciated at all here. Magazines are usually printed, and it’s not uncommon at all for this to be either not available online or behind paywalls. So, get your shit together and communicate in a nicer way.

Oh come on, now I have to defend @Locutus. I’m sure he knows what a mag is. And I’m sure he used a search engine to find out what the “Linux Format” is. And I’m also quite sure he thought about it before posting his well-founded answer.

Now can we all just get along? I gotta go to the effing DMV in a few hours–that’s stressful enough.

Its available both online and in hard copy with the right subscription.
I take it both ways…

Just for your info - I take it as part of my Magzter app - which includes a LOT of special interest mags for an inclusive price. Range is quite wide - but I’m mostly computers and vehicles (aviation, cars, trucks). Most of them are continuations of paper subscriptions that USED to be viable (Car and Driver, Maximum PC, Linux Magazine and Linux Format, Autocar UK etc etc). Once you’ve retired, the time to read them multiplies…

I will agree with you that time becomes more available, but there are so many ways to fill it, that it’s still hard pressed  Of course those are choices. I love to read, but I’m probably doing less of it these days. The lack of a 9-5 frees you in so many ways.
I garden, I work with some non-profit groups (officer even), I spoil my dogs rotten with attention (and that bites me), and I shamelessly spend time on social media (which was rather strongly to be avoided when I was in the workforce, it was frowned upon as a security problem). My, where DO the days go?
I had the thought of investigating your Magzter route, but then decided nope, I don’t have time for it lol. It is interesting though!

I feel bad for people who grow up with “social sales media”

With no paper to write on or draw on .

With no car , motorcycle, music , hobby magazines but a stream of supercharged “info” feed to them.

Forums and video platforms still keep the “I”, " Me" alive, where people focus on creativity and hobbies.
