Dolphin doesn't know what application to use for files and doesn't let me "Open with" anymore

To be honest i don’t know exactly when this happened as i wasn’t on my PC very often in the last few days, but double clicking on any file in Dolphin doesn’t open it anymore but shows me the “open with” pop-up, but in that pop-up there are not applications listed and it doesn’t let me search.

I searched around and found that running either

kbuildsycoca5 or kbuildsycoca6 could help but for me it thows errors like:

kbuildsycoca6
kbuildsycoca6 running...
"applications.menu"  not found in  QList()

I then cleared the cache for it via

rm ~/.cache/ksycoca6_* -rf

but to no avail. Did someone else encounter this problem within the last few updates? I couldn’t find something similar here. Maybe someone can help me troubleshoot this better?

Thanks!

Yup, was a bit too quick on posting here and disregarded reddit a bit too much.

Found this:

If on Arch, install archlinux-xdg-menu and run: XDG_MENU_PREFIX=arch- kbuildsycoca6

and this solved it.
