Conflicting packages when trying to update

I can’t update my system using garuda-update -a
It’s been a week and my system keeps asking for an update.
When I run the command I get conflicting packages errors.

Here is the detailed output :

I don’t really know how to solve this issue :confused:

You can uninstall samba-mounter-git , libkipi , kipi-plugins .

$ sudo pacman -R samba-mounter-git libkipi kipi-plugins

Created a snapshot with Timeshift just in case smth break :skull:
Then I tried to remove the conflicting packages :

The best thing would be to temporarily remove those AUR packages and update

$ sudo pacman -R kholidays5 kio5 knotifications5 kwindowsystem5 ki18n5 kcoreaddons5

and

$ paru -R kholidays5 kio5 knotifications5 kwindowsystem5 ki18n5 kcoreaddons5

Try taking the update without your AUR packages and paste the output into the thread if it does not succeed.

garuda-update

The update has a hotfix to resolve a lot of these conflicts for you, so you don’t have to uninstall them piecemeal.

After you get through a successful update, then try again with the AUR packages–from there you can uninstall and reinstall problematic packages to try to get those up to date as well.

Remove kfiredragonhelper. That’s a dead package no longer available in repos.

These packages are gone also. Go ahead and remove them and then try again.

If you want to continue using libmediawiki, you can install libmediawiki-git from the AUR but I would do that after you are on the other side of this update situation.

Solved :white_check_mark:

  • removed libmediawiki & libmediawiki-git
  • updated successfully with garuda-update
  • reboot
  • updated AUR pkgs successfully with garuda-update -a
  • reboot
