In the ~/.config/autostart I can see files for bashrc-setup.desktop and initial-user-setup.dekstop. ideally these desktop entries should get deleted upon first run. What could be the reason for these desktop entries to not run?

This has been fixed on our end for a while now and should not happen again on future releases/new user accounts you create. Commit can be found here: Fix bashrc-setup (2a1ab663) · Commits · Garuda Linux / Themes and Settings / Settings / garuda-bash-config · GitLab

Three questions:

  1. I have the default shell set to bash. Even then do I need this fix?
  2. I tried applying this fix, but it did not work either. Then I noticed that this file doesn't have executable permission as well. Do I need to change permission as well? If yes, Should this be part of a fix as well?
  3. I am facing the same issue with the initial-user-setup script as well. Any recommendations for making that work?

I suggest you run these scripts manually for now, by copying the exec parts to the terminal. This issue is fixed in newer Garuda releases.

systemctl --user enable --now gamemoded;setup_dxvk install;rm ~/.config/autostart/initial-user-setup.desktop

Failed to enable unit: Unit file gamemoded.service does not exist.
find-the-command: "setup_dxvk" is not found locally, searching in repositories...

Maybe it should be fixed as well. Seems like it is intended to be placed in gaming-specific release.
