Automatic dettection of video and audio sources?

Is there a way for applications like OBS or Sonusmix to automatically capture application audio or video?

Whenever I close a window and re-open - say, a game -, I need to go into Sonusmix and delete then re-add that window to route it to an audio group. Same with OBS, every time I open it, it shows several KDE screenshare selector windows, one for each video input I have set up in scenes for streaming.

It’d be very convenient for a streamer to not have to setup everything every time, especially mid stream, so if there is a way that Sonusmix and OBS can detect sources by name instead of by ID, it’d be a great addition to my workflow.

Well, thanks anyways for the support, the Garuda team is actually very cool in providing support, and it’s been a very smooth road so far, considering I knew nothing about Linux going in lol

Don’t know about Sonusmix but OBS has scenes that you can define with audio and video sources

I did exactly that, but every time I open it, it’ll ask to rebind those sources. It actually gets audio immediately, but not the video.

It’ll always ask for a confirmation on what screen it should record, one per source. There are this many because I imported it from Windows, but even by adding a new source, it won’t stick.

I see what you mean, I just tested myself. I not sure if this a Garuda issue, you might want to check on the OBS issues to see if someone has similar issue.
